North East Area Development, Inc.(NEAD) is a non-profit neighborhood organization, organized and operated to lead quality of life enhancement activities through community, neighborhood, and business development, housing enhancements and development, and to plan and assist in educational, cultural, recreational and social activities. The Museum of Kids Art (MoKA), a program of NEAD, is a multidisciplinary, minority-directed center for the arts and learning that employs artists to lead programs and foster mentoring relationships with aspiring urban youth artists. MoKA's mission is to educate and inspire emerging young urban artists to pursue careers in the arts. Through a series of mentor/apprentice relationships and a structured curriculum taught by in-residence practicing artists, MoKA provides real world education and experience to work in the arts. MoKA maintains a collection of youth art and maintains a public gallery to feature the best of urban youth art.
