The Film Society of Lincoln Center was founded in 1969 to promote the art of film, to recognize and support film artists, and to encourage the growth of a diverse and discerning filmgoing audience. Since its founding, the Film Society has worked to accomplish these goals by developing and administrating acclaimed annual events such as the New York Film Festival, the New Directors/New Films series, the publication of FILM COMMENT Magazine and the daily film programming at the Walter Reade Theater located on the Lincoln Center campus.
