Mission StatementTo seek out, study, and collect the work of early and contemporary writers, storytellers, and artists, and to publish, disseminate, and present that work through publications and educational and public programs for the larger community. |
DescriptionWord thursdays offers twice-monthly readings throughout most of the year taking place at Bright Hill Center and in other community locations as part of the Speaking the Words Tour; Word Thursdays Literary Workshops for Kids and Adults take place winter and summer; Share the Words HS Mentoring and Competition program culminates in a spring oral competition; Bright Hill Press publishes individual poetry and fiction collections and literary anthologies; we present exhibits at our Word & Image Gallery; we have built, thanks to the NYSCA Capital Program, a Community Library & Internet Center, and we developed and administer, in partnership with NYSCA, the NYS Literary Curators Web Site, www.nyslittree.org, which includes the online and print versions of the State Literary Map, distributed by us to libraries and schools throughout New York State. |
